Bridal Market Fall 2013 has kicked off, and we’ve seen a striking display of the wedding trends that are set to be big now that the weather has cooled. There is nothing more exciting than waiting for a designer to unveil her latest gowns, especially if you are looking for the perfect dress! If you’re planning a wedding, make sure you’ve checked out these fall wedding trends!
Table of contents:
Yep, the color of love is set to be one of the big fall wedding trends. Even Vera Wang unveiled striking pink dresses, in every shade from soft pastels to bold brights. There’s even an eye-catching contrast trend going on, with bright pinks accented with softer details or netting. Love.
Dainty halternecks give a modern yet feminine touch to wedding dresses, and they are so flattering! Don’t worry about giving your guests an eyeful, either. Amsale gowns, for example, featured gorgeous white halternecks with embellished netting over the top. Absolutely stunning!
The Kate Middleton effect is still going strong! Her long lace sleeves have been copied by everyone from budget dresses to Monique Lhuillier gowns, and they still look timeless. To really own the look, choose a simple design, and add a contrasting belt around the middle. A veil and pink lipstick will complete your minimalist but utterly gorgeous look.
Feeling regal? Whether it’s all the European Royal weddings or Game of Thrones, royal gold dresses are set to be huge. For something a little different to the usual, check out Claire Pettibone’s gold dresses. A slinky cream-and-gold number is perfect for keeping all eyes on you without opting for a bright white meringue.
Anything old is definitely in! From fur shawls to heavy silk gowns and lace cover ups, vintage glamour is back in a big way. Get out your family wedding photos, and recreate elements from those special days. Jenny Packham gave her vintage gowns an airy outdoor feeling by creating voluptuous updos, and adding jewelry through the hair. Old necklaces or specially-made hair jewelry both work well, and a classic simple piece will look gorgeous illuminated under tree LEDs or candles.
Want a sleeveless gown, but don’t fancy exposing your arms? Cover-ups were all over the catwalk, in just about every style. Add the vintage feel by opting for a sheer white cover-up with a fur collar and sleeves, or add a touch of French class by adding three-quarter length lace sleeves a la Amsale. Cropped cover-ups are all the rage, too! You could even model them for photographs and take them off before the big event, if you please.
Short wedding dresses are still pretty hit or miss, but they’ll continue to be one of the biggest Fall wedding trends. Ines DiSanto modeled some of my favorite short wedding dresses, with heavily inspired '20s flapper dresses. Tassels and embellishments are carefully balanced by the simple white shape, and I love the off-shoulder style. Rock it with big beehive hair and strappy shoes for ultimate retro style.
Looking at these fall wedding trends has got me dreaming about my own big day – there’s so many great wedding trends right now, I’m not sure which ones I’d choose! Would you wear any of these gowns? Let me know!
