Not Double Checking Your Reservations

It is so important to double check your reservations. This is one of the biggest honeymoon planning mistakes that people make. Don’t trust your hotel to take care of everything perfectly. It is worth one last minute phone call to make sure that your reservation is in place. You should also double check any special requests you have made to make sure that they will be taken care of.

Not Bringing Enough Sunscreen

Not bringing enough sunscreen along is another one of the common honeymoon planning mistakes that people make. You can buy more sunscreen but it is possible that it is a lot more expensive at your honeymoon location, especially if you are traveling out of the country. You also don’t want to run out just as you are starting a full day lying on a beautiful beach. Nobody wants to spend their honeymoon sunburned. Be sure to pack enough sunscreen to avoid that.

Not Reading Reviews

Not reading reviews is a big honeymoon planning mistake. You should always read reviews before you make reservations anywhere. Things are not always what they seem to be in the brochure or on a website. See what the real scoop is on the hotel you are considering. It is worth your time to do this. You can find out a lot of information that you would have never known otherwise.

Planning Too Much

Sometimes your planning can go into overdrive. You can plan too much. While it is great to research and think of things that you would enjoy doing on your honeymoon, you don’t want to overbook yourself. Err on the side of having too few things planned rather than too many. You can always add more activities in later.

Not Going over Your Luggage Last Minute

It is so important to go over your luggage last minute. It is so easy to forget things when you are packing. This is especially true when you have as much on your mind as you do when you are getting married in a few days. Take the time to go over your luggage one last time before you leave for your honeymoon. While you can always pick up a toothbrush or some toiletry item when you arrive at your destination, some things can’t be picked up as easily such as prescription medications or eye glasses.

Not Planning for Emergencies

You need to do a bit of research to figure out how you would handle an emergency on your honeymoon. No one wants to think about that but it can and does happen. Where is the nearest hospital or urgent care center? It is better to know these things ahead of time instead of trying to figure that out on the spot when you have an actual emergency. Hopefully you will not need this information but knowing it will give you peace of mind.

Not Going

One of the biggest honeymoon planning mistakes is not going. Everyone needs to go on a honeymoon when they get married. It is wonderful if you can go on a big, elaborate honeymoon. But if you can’t, there are still other ways to plan one. It can be small and close to home. The important thing is that you take some time to get away and enjoy each other.

It is my hope that these tips will help you to avoid honeymoon planning mistakes. You want to do what you can to avoid having them happen to you. Have you heard of honeymoon horror stories that have occurred due to a lack of planning?
