7 Biggest Wedding Money Wasters ...

If you aren't careful while planning your wedding, you may end up with items that are big wedding money wasters. It can be difficult to say no with sites like Pinterest and Instagram; the more you see, the more you want. That's why I'm here to help you stay away from these big wedding money wasters that you may regret the day after...

1 Over the Top Venues...

If you are on a tight budget, then you may want to stay away from many big wedding money wasters. Avoid wedding money wasting venues that offer too many add-ons and try to tempt you with glamorous items. Make this day about you and your significant other, not about who has the biggest ballroom with 50 chandeliers and sparkling chinaware for dinner.

Frequently asked questions

2 Special Entertainment...

Having a DJ at your wedding isn't what I'm referring to as a wedding money waster. I'm talking about the Spanish dancers, the Elvis impersonator, or the elephant who carries you and your new spouse into the room when you are introduced for the first time! If you are trying to stick to a budget, then stay away from special wedding entertainment.

3 Empty Loft Venues...

Sometimes you can get creative with DIY items in an empty loft venue. However, don't forget that an empty venue means that you will have to rent or borrow every item you need for your big day. From the chairs for the ceremony to the silverware your guests will eat with, these all need to be taken into consideration. This is why, in some cases, renting an empty venue can become a big wedding money waster. If you can't afford to rent everything, consider inexpensive venues that provide these items in their wedding package.

4 Too Many Guests...

Cutting people out of your guest list is probably one of the most stressful things to do. However, you don't need to invite everyone you found on Facebook from elementary school. Think about your budget and how much it costs per plate, then sigh a big relief that you won't be paying $150 for the girl who sat behind you in Biology whose name you can't remember! Just say no and don't let your guest list become a big wedding money waster.

5 Wedding Accessories...

Yes you need a great pair of shoes to go with your gorgeous wedding gown, but you don't need a $500 pair of red heeled pumps that you may only wear once! Remember what this day is really about and stop trying to impress everyone on Instagram! You don't need to go crazy on the accessories, remember less is always more.

6 A $10,000 Wedding Gown...

Seriously, a wedding gown that cost more than $3,000 is a wedding money waster to me. Let's see, you could put a down payment on a house or you could buy a ridiculous $5,000 plus wedding dress! I sure hope your spouse knows what they are getting themselves into!

7 Over the Top Fondant Wedding Cake...

I love shows like Cake Boss, Cupcake Wars, and Amazing Wedding Cakes. But they have us obsessed with over the top cake designs that are created with fondant. Fondant can be expensive and turn your wedding cake into a wedding money waster. So double think the design that would make your wedding cake look like a carnival and consider buttercream instead of fondant.

Do you agree with my list of wedding money wasters? What's on your not to buy for the big day list?
