You Feel More Grown up than Ever before

It’s strange how becoming engaged can make you feel more grown up than ever before. You may have already graduated college, got your first grown up job and be living on your own. But it seems there’s a new level of growing up that you discover when you get engaged. It’s almost a feeling of “wow, so this is what being an adult is truly like.” It doesn’t take getting engaged to become an adult, but it’s undeniable that this feeling hits you.

2

You Can’t Stop Staring at Your Ring

You’re probably finding that you can’t stop staring at your ring. Your gaze keeps getting pulled back to it. You’ve memorized every little detail of it and know it’s beautiful, but you’re still looking. You’re thinking that you can’t believe this really happened or that you’re truly getting married. The sense of shock takes a few weeks to wear off.

3

You Realize Who Means the Most to You

Once you get past the first day or two of your engagement, you start having thoughts of who should be in your bridal party. You probably find yourself considering who you’re closest to and how you’re going to choose a maid of honor. For some girls, it’s easy and it’s something they’ve always known. For others, this is a time of intense inner debates. Take your time making decisions and listen to your heart.

4

You Suddenly Miss Your Parents

You may suddenly feel emotional when you think of your parents. You may suddenly have a feeling of missing them. This can come out of nowhere and make no sense at all! After all, you may have already been living on your own for several years. But getting engaged gives you a feeling of finality and you realize you’re never going to live with them again because you’re going to be building your own family.

5

You’re a Little Scared

It’s completely natural to feel a little scared right now. Marriage is a big deal and it’s a good thing that you’re treating it seriously. Far too many people don’t. Your nervousness means that it’s important to you and that’s actually a great to know about yourself. It’s a new chapter in your life and rarely does any new chapter come without a bit of fear.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Your Mind Drifts Constantly

You’re probably finding that your mind drifts constantly right now. Your thoughts are everywhere! You’re thinking about what type of dress you want and who’d be the best caterer. That’s to be expected. You’re a bride-to-be! Give yourself some grace; you’ll eventually return to normal.

You Realize You Never Knew Happiness like This Could Exist

Most of all, you’re probably most surprised at how happy you feel. You probably had no idea that happiness like this could exist. When you look at your fiancé, you’re overwhelmed with feelings of love and devotion. You’re excited at the beautiful future you’re going to share. Make up your mind to enjoy every second of it!

These are 7 common experiences you may go through when you get engaged. How many of them have happened to you? I’d love to hear from you!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

It's only been 3 months since I got engaged, but I don't feel quite like an adult yet as I'm still at home with my parents and don't have my licence yet.. However in that time I've got my mum helping me on making my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses, she's making my cake, I've got a guest list and picked out 2 bridesmaids, booked the venue.. I still look at my ring and think that I love my ring (it looks amazing in natural light) and that I can't believe it's happening! I guess I won't miss my parents until I move out next year, a little bit different for me :)

Aye, since that comment I'm now living with my man (since may 2016), have my licence, and I don't miss my folks too much just yet... big day is in March and 6 months away 😵

GODDDDD EACH AND EVER WORD IS TRUE🙈🙈 I'm so exciteddddddd
