The rules for losing weight haven’t changed, but I’ve tweaked them to help make your Big Day a little more perfect.

Here are 8 weight loss tips for your wedding.2

1. Be Realistic

If your wedding is six weeks away, there is no way you’re going to miraculously (or safely) shed 20 pounds, no matter how badly you want to.

Realistically, you can expect to lose no more than 2 pounds per week, so if you want to lose that 20 pounds, plan for it to take about 10 weeks.3

Being realistic about what you can accomplish in the time you have is my most important, and has earned the top spot, on my list of weight loss tips for your wedding, for a reason – it’s absolutely vital!

2. About Your Gown…

If you’ve already bought your gown, don’t fret.

If you bought it at your current weight, it can always been tailored down once you’ve lost weight (give your seamstress a heads-up so she can schedule your fittings).

If you bought it too small, hoping you’ll lose weight before the wedding, take a long hard look at how much weight you’ll have to lose to fit into it (and look good), and decide right now if it’ll work.2

Most gowns can be let out a little, but remember, white, especially shiny white, can be cruel to a girl who still has 5 pounds to lose.

Isn’t it better to look absolutely gorgeous in a size 8, than look like you’re stuffed into a size 6?
